iSport/PT SLC+/CinQo review in VeloNews

Postby Velocomp on Sat Jan 02, 2010 5:44 pm

This review is in the February 2010 issue of VeloNews.

Though we had no idea this article was "in the works", when we read it we certainly were very pleased!

Note that while the iSport is the product reviewed, the iPro and iAero models perform equally.

Congratulations! That is a great review. To bad they did not pair the Quarq and PT with an iAero :?

The chic magnet socks at the end (under cons) seemed in and out of place at the same time :o

Not a bad write up. However, Too bad he did not pair it with a Garmin 705, He could have uploaded everything to a computer except the wind data. Which would have been the same as the other power meters. I like to see the wind data so I know why I am working so hard.

Is there the same delay with the iBike iAero as mentioned for the Garmin?

I have the ibike IPro on the left side of the stem and the garmin 705 on the right on one bike, On the other I have the Ibike ISport forward on the aerobar and the garmin 705 on the stem. I can't move my eyes from one meter to the other fast enough to know for sure if there is a lag. :|

I was up at the newsagent this morning thumbing through the ride mags I am too cheap to buy and noticed the Bicycling Australia Magazine had a 1 page review of the iBike Pro. Decent review, pointed out the cost differences (particularly here in where everything seems to be twice the price as the on-line stores) and that the calibration needs to be done correctly.
I looked on their website but the issue is not up there yet.

Attached is a copy of the iPro Review in Bicycling Australia, January-February 2010 edition. The Review outlines all the reasons why I remain so happy with the iPro - cost, ease of use, transportability, accuracy. :D

The one thing missing from most reviews is to me the singular thing that sets Velocomp and the iBike apart from any other company and product (cycling or otherwise) - customer focus. I have never owned another product that I would feel as favorable about in terms of the company's tech support, service after the sale to correct any issues (real or imagined) and willingness to listen to the customer base to learn about how the product is used and gather ideas for improvements and new features. I nromally take a cautious approach to new products and am seldom an early adaptor...I let someone else work out the bugs. With my previous experience with Velocomp with my Gen 1 unit, I had zero qualms about ordering a Gen III pre-release. Velocomp should be used as a case study in how to run a customer-oriented business.

i fuly agree with PJBoyle. Velocomp's customer focus is unsurpassed, and I apologise to the V Team for having omitted that in my brief posting earlier this morning (last night US time).

It is nice to finally see some evidence based reviews of the Ibike. The web is awash with naysayers (the world is flat, without actually having taken a trip of discovery). I think too the patience and tolerance shown by John and Velocomp for criticisms of their product is to be commended. Personally, my patience for the lack of factual evidence upon which many of the criticisms are based, would not extend so far. Having earned legal qualifications, I would probably put them to use :D

As PJBoyle, and from Brazil(terrible customer service), I can say that the attention they provide is priceless.

Congratulations.

These are the reason I got one to review for our team..... I got the iBike Sport GT and I have to say that they are excellent! Compared it to the Computrainer and it says exactly what the Velocomp say it does.

Daily calibration is a chore but having read some good advice Im now good to go within 5 minutes. Also my hat goes off to the level of customer support...outstanding is all I can say and I hope it continues.
